Ray Crisis HD PSX

Ray Crisis for the PS1 pretty dam good game with a super nice soundtrack. No 2p support..:( I tried to share this but I have no Idea how to.. Sorry to those I said I would get this game to....

Raycrisis / Original Mode (PSX ver) 1/2 'Non Sentimentalism'

Here is some game play from Taito's Playstation port of Raycrisis. I like this game a lot but it made me sad that they had to exclude the 2 player support. I guess it was really taxing the PSX hardware. There is also a score attack mode in the game to make up for this omission. It is lots of fun and features remixed music and some altered level designs/patterns. That brings me to another point, the way the music is handled in this game is interesting. Depending on which stage you select to take on as your first stage, will determine the 'theme song' for the majority of the game. So I will make a couple more videos so you can hear the different tunes.

RayCrisis: Series Termination Game Sample - Playstation

Original Air Date: May 15, 2009 RayCrisis is considered to be part of the whole "Ray" series (RayForce/Galactic Attack/Layer Section/Gunlock, RayStorm) and is one of the most graphically impressive shooters for the Playstation. It's also perhaps the only category that nobody knocks... because RayCrisis is far from agreeable when it comes to everything else. I'm not saying it's bad (because it's not so bad), but it has understandably mixed scores all over the net. This game has a number of unique elements for a shooter, which is one of the things I'll praise it for. Looking for originality in a shooter is, well... it's usually not one of the things I point out, but this game has it. You can choose the order of the starting levels in the Original Mode or play an arguably longer mode called Special Mode. What makes this game so interesting is the "Encroachment" level. In Original Mode, you have to work the Encroachment level down and it starts at a set amount, if you keep it low (Green level), the levels become longer and the enemies more diverse and in bigger waves. Bosses also get tougher if you do better and possess more forms as you progress. If you do poorly (yellow and above), stages may become shorter. If you reach 100%, things get really bad and the game may rush you straight to the final boss! This game was made for SHMUP fanatics IMO more than casual shooter fans, as you are rewarded with bigger and better challenges by destroying everything that moves and not ...

RayCrisis G-Net Arcade JAMMA PCB

I figured while I had my G-Net out I might as well make a gameplay video. This is the third game in the Ray series. Despite the 3D graphics looking a bit dated I still think the game as a whole is a blast to play. And lets not forget the awesome soundtrack by Zuntata. While the G-Net version is rather difficult to come by this game saw a Playstation port which can be found with relative ease.

『レイクライシス』 (RayCrisis) - Special Mode Playthrough Part 1(PC Version)

Ok, this mode was made as "trial/score attack" where you face all the stages in a pre-defined order, unlike the regular arcade mode. The mechanics differ a bit as well, the encroachment becomes crucial and you have to keep it low at all costs, even if it includes suiciding to get a bomb and destroying as many enemies as possible. It's also there for those that wanted a longer mode and further challenge but it lacks all the story bits and end of stage score reports. Enemy formations also come more packed, appear faster and, overall, you'll be kept at the edge and attacking nonstop. Like Thunder Dragon II, more stuff will come the better and faster you destroy it. However, if you do bad, the encroachment goes up, less enemies appear and, overall, less score. Enemies in red will spawn pink translucent items that reduce the encorachment. Other enemies will spawn blue items, which increase your available live up to H (sorry, had to). This is key because you get a huge bonus at the end for your remaining lives and the amount of encroachment left (less is better here). Bosses also spawn a bunch of items depending on your performance... or according to some random calculation. But there is also another item that is key (and seems just as random as some of the items spawned by the bosses) and that is the 2X score item. A green crystal that if you pick it will double your score so even if you play horribly, that item alone can make the difference from a 50 million run to a 90+ ...

『レイクライシス』 (RayCrisis) - Special Mode Playthrough Part 2 (PC Version)

More pew pew and kickass lock-on guided laser missiles. The bosses fought during this part are Sem-slut (lol-name I know, it was dubbed "Sem-strut" for the localisations) and Sem-loke. Their attacks are a bit trickier and fiercer than in arcade mode. Special mention to Sem-loke crystals that spew huge lasers. Those damn things will usually fire on the position where you are going to be, not where you exactly are. In the Arcade mode it's the other way around. It's also funny how I seem to die in stupid ways (like the damn lasers of Sem-slut but I swear I dodged them and the hitbox tricked me) yet dodge some of the crazy barrages. The music goes from tribal percussion to this haunting pan flute-like sound and super elating pacing... It gets even better towards the end and I like how the bass has more protagonism. Watching Zuntata on a live show only reminded me of how cool the music in these series is.

『レイクライシス』 (RayCrisis) - Special Mode Playthrough Part 3 (PC Version)

"Select your Wave Rider..." RefRain is using "Divers", heh. Third and last part, also what has to be my longest video so far. Facing three bosses here: a powerful verison of Pro-Tor, Dis-Human and Infinity, the typical Taito surreal TLB. Taito tends to be synonym of surrealism and weirdness. This is where I start making a bunch of mistakes and lost valuable enemy formations. Heck, I couldn't even open the four missile racks or summon the big mid-boss. But it's also where I managed to get the pesky green 2X item, which turned a horrible run into a 76+ million one. Still not too good, I can't seem to beat my 87 million mark although I know it's more than possible. Also, I'm mentioning how awesome the new Dis-Human theme is. I know it might feel quite anticlimatic with all the tender piano and orchestral overtones but it's a nice change from the mind-numbing techno punchi-punchi pum pum numbers you have to hear nowadays. About Infinity, I know you can squeeze like 750k points by bombing those rings at first and then another 750k by bombing them towards the end but... damn, couldn't pull it off at all. I'm already glad I could record this whole thing without my computer lagging, getting the 2x and a partially decent score! RayCrisis is definitely an underrated game. There is much more behind what seemed to be a super short and super simple shooter. Definitely worth spending some hours on it... I spent like 24 since I put my claws on this version.
